The findings suggest that the colors we use to describe our emotions may be more useful than we realize, and that they can give us insight into our mental state. If you’re feeling blue, consider reaching for a gray sweater to help boost your mood.

We are pleased to announce that this December, our focus will be on HIV/AIDS Awareness and the Flu Vaccine!
HIV/AIDS Awareness
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are approximately 1.1 million people living with HIV in the United States. Of those, 1 in 7 are unaware they are infected.
The CDC recommends that everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 get tested for HIV at least once as part of routine health care.
There is no cure for HIV, but there are treatments available that can prolong a person’s life and improve their quality of life.
If you are living with HIV, it is important to see a healthcare provider regularly, take your medication as prescribed, and stay engaged in care.
The flu vaccine is the best defense against the flu and its complications, which can be especially serious for people living with HIV.
The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older get a flu vaccine every year.
December is a great time to get your flu vaccine, as it takes about two weeks for the vaccine to become fully effective.
We hope you will join us in observing these important NHOs this December!

We want to provide resources and support to help women get the treatment they need.
November is National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, and I encourage all Americans to learn more about this disease and how it affects our loved ones. Alzheimer’s disease is a degenerative brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and cognitive skills, and eventually the ability to carry out basic tasks. It is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States and the only cause of death among the top 10 that cannot be prevented, cured, or even slowed. Every 66 seconds, someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s disease, and by 2050, someone in the United States will develop the disease every 33 seconds. Alzheimer’s disease not only takes a toll on those diagnosed with the disease, but also on their caregivers and loved ones. I encourage all Americans to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease and how they can support those affected by it.

There is no official cancer ribbon color chart, but many organizations use different colors to represent different types of cancer. Some common colors are listed below:

July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, which is observed to bring awareness to the unique struggles that racial and ethnic minority communities face regarding mental illness in the United States. Mental illness affects people of all races and ethnicities, but minority communities often face additional barriers to treatment, such as language barriers, lack of access to culturally competent care, and mistrust of the medical establishment. These barriers can result in minority communities being underserved and misunderstood when it comes to mental health.
During National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, it is important to reach out to racial and ethnic minority communities to learn about their experiences with mental illness and to work together to find solutions. Increasing awareness and understanding of mental health issues in minority communities is a crucial step in breaking down the barriers to treatment and improving mental health care for everyone.
